Latasha Ferguson is an educator, a speaker, and a podcast host of the show Overcome to Become. The heart behind her podcast came as an overflow of her own story, part of which includes becoming a body image overcomer in order to be free… free from the chains that bind our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health together when we don’t take care of our bodies.
Latasha & I could talk for hoursssssss.
We don’t here. You’re welcome. But it’s a great conversation filled with truth and laughter and new friendship. She is as open and honest as anyone could be about body image struggles from childhood all the way on up.
Listen in here for some great encouragement on eating those three cookies, exercising because it’s a privilege to do so, and loving the body God gave to and made for you.
I read Busy Philipps’ memoir, “This Will Only Hurt a Little.” There’s a line and story where she talks about guarding her daughters’ minds and hearts from other women who say things about their body not being “bathing suit ready.” That line has stuck with me for more than 3 years, and this conversation with Latasha shows me why: it’s not healthy to “wait” to be “bathing suit ready” when your body fits just fine into a suit from Target right now. It comes down to the heart behind the sentence, and that’s what we explore and encourage you in for this episode.
