Won't you stand up?
/Before Bluetooth, one of the great joys of my life was getting a new CD from the store - or a CD I hadn't yet heard from the library - and playing it in my car on the way home. To this day, it's still how I best learn an album, playing it one track at a time, digesting the songs in the order mastered by the artist's producer.
When I first heard "Stand Up" by Sugarland, I cried. I listened to it on repeat for months. I'm not a center-of-attention kind of girl, but I am an advocate wherever I am. Just today, I swiftly and seriously corrected a young man who made fun of a young girl with special needs. I fiercely believe in standing up where you are for those who can't. I don't always know how to do it on a bigger scale, but I can at least get it right in my little corner of the world. That matters, too.
My heart is jumbled for where we are as a nation, but I've been singing this all day. I believe God is still on His throne, that life will go on, and that those of us who stand up will make the difference for how the next four years proceed.
*Song starts around 1:17*
All the lonely people cryin'
It could change if we just get started
Lift the darkness, light a fire
For the silent and the broken hearted
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up you girls and boys?
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up and use your voice?
There's a comfort
There's healing
High above the pain and sorrow
Change is coming
Can you feel it?
Calling us into a new tomorrow
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up you girls and boys?
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up and use your voice?
When the walls fall all around you
When your hope has turned to dust
Let the sound of love surround you
Beat like a heart in each of us
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up you girls and boys?
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up and use your voice?
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up you girls and boys?
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up
Won't you stand up
Stand up
Stand up
Won't you stand up and use your voice?
